Longweizhou Hub Project on the Yuanhe Waterway Completes Erection of Its First Precast Girder

Recently, the first precast girder of the Longweizhou Hub Project on the Yuanhe Waterway, a project undertaken by The Sixth Engineering (Xiamen) Co., Ltd. of CCCC Third Harbor Engineering Co., Ltd., was successfully erected, marking that the first phase of the project has officially entered the construction stage of the superstructure.

The Longweizhou Hub of the Yuanhe Waterway improvement project is located near Louxia Village, Xinxi Township, Xinyu City, Jiangxi Province, and is the most downstream of the three cascade stages of the high-grade Yuanhe waterway. The Longweizhou navigation hub is rated as a Grade II hub, with a design flood frequency of once in 50 years and a check flood frequency of once in 300 years; its ship lock is of Grade II, with a representative vessel type of 2,000-tonne cargo ships, while also accommodating the navigation needs of 3,000-tonne vessels. The hub as a whole consists of a ship lock, sluice gates, a connecting dam, a fishway, a traffic bridge across the hub, and auxiliary production buildings.

The project has a complex structure, and the erection of the first precast girder means that the works have fully shifted from the construction of the lower hydraulic structures to a new stage of superstructure construction. Faced with difficulties such as large-radius high-altitude hoisting and a limited on-site working area, the project team repeatedly organized technical experts to carry out dedicated discussions in light of the site conditions and the requirements of the hoisting operation, strictly checked the stability of the cranes, repeatedly optimized the construction plan for erecting the first girder, refined the hoisting procedures, clarified the responsibilities of each post, and exercised fine control over the entire hoisting process, finally completing the precise positioning of the first girder.

Going forward, the project will continue to seize the golden period of construction, steadily advance girder erection and bridge deck system construction, strive to build a high-quality water transport project, and help accelerate the construction of the Yuanhe golden waterway.(Shi Jianhuan, Lin Shanyi)
